The national U-20 team, the Black satellites have been crowned champions of the 2021 U-20 AFCON after  beating Uganda in the final of the 2021 U-20 AFCON in Mauritania.

The satellites went into the game as favorites ahead of the Ugandans who were debutants in the tournament.

The game was fairly balanced in the opening minutes as both teams cancelled each other out in all departments.
Ghana took the lead through Captain of the side Afriyie Barnieh in the 26th minute from a perfectly rehearsed corner kick. Karim Zito’s men looked the better side after taking the lead.

Ghana had some good chances to double the lead in the first half but the Ugandans were resolute at the back and ended  the half with just a goal down.

The Satellites started the second half on the same note as they ended the first and looked to seal the deal early in the second half.

Despite  some pressure from the Ugandans to get back in the game, Afriyie Barnieh stepped up again to put his team two up before the hour mark after some brilliant display from Precious Boah in the opponent’s penalty box.

The satellites managed the game and held on to their two goal lead.
Goals in both halves were enough for the satellites to win their fourth U-20 Championship for the first time since 2009.

The satellites made Ghana’s 64th Independence Day celebrations a memorable one.
