Black Satellites head coach, Karim Zito believes Ghana’s qualification to the Semi-final of the ongoing 2021 U-20 AFCON tournament in Mauritania is a great accomplishment for not only himself but all coaches in the country.
Ghana’s Under twenty team progressed to the semi-final of the competition in Mauritania after overcoming the young lions of Cameroon.
It was a keenly contested semifinal game from the two teams and had to be won by penalty shootouts. The Black Satellites won 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in extra time on Thursday.
The Black Satellites scored all of their first 4 kicks, while Ngoni Ali missed and Danlad Ibrahim saved from Kevin-Prince Milla to hand Karim Zito’s men victory.
In a post-match interview, Zito says, words of encouragement and support from coaches in Ghana helped in getting the victory over Cameroon.
”I am very proud of the boys and also proud of myself for qualifying,” Zito said in his post-match interview.
“I want to thank my colleague coaches back home in Ghana who never stopped trusting in me and gave words of encouragement that this team can make it.”
“This is a big achievement for me and for the all Coaches in Ghana”, Coach Zito added.
The Black Satellites will face the winner of the quarter-final match between Central Africa Republic and Gambia which is scheduled to take place later on Friday.
