Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is expected to visit several flood-affected communities in Accra today, June 5, following the recent heavy rains that triggered widespread flooding across parts of the capital.
The visit is intended to enable the Vice President to assess the extent of the damage caused by the floods, interact with affected residents, and gather first-hand information about the difficulties facing impacted communities.
During the tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will also meet with local government officials, emergency response personnel, and community leaders to receive updates on the situation and ongoing relief efforts.
The visit forms part of the government’s broader response to the disaster, aimed at ensuring timely support for affected residents and strengthening coordination among agencies involved in relief and recovery operations.
Government officials say the engagement will also help identify measures needed to reduce the impact of future flooding incidents and improve resilience in vulnerable communities.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the immediate needs of flood victims while working with relevant stakeholders to develop long-term solutions to recurring flooding challenges in the capital.
