The Wala State has expressed gratitude to Mr John Dramani Mahama, for the decision to nominate Mr Alban S. K. Bagbin, the Speaker of Ghana’s Eighth Parliament as the Speaker of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

It said the decision of the President-elect Mr Mahama (Napogbakole Naa) to work with Mr Bagbin (Dakagili Naa) indicated his desire to work with highly competent people in his next government.

The Wala Traditional Council, led by its President, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, expressed the gratitude in a statement in Wa during a prayer session for Napogbakole Naa Mahama, for a successful tenure.

Jinpenhi Naa Kadri Ibrahim, the Secretary to the Wa Naa read the statement on behalf of the Traditional Council.

Alhaji Yahaya Ahmed Nanjo, the Ja’min Imam, led the prayers at the Wa Naa’s Palace for Allah’s protection, guidance, and wisdom for Napogbakole Naa Mahama to have successful governance and to thank Allah for a peaceful election in 2024.

They also prayed for Mr Bagbin to have an efficacious tenure since Ghanaians would be looking up to him to lead Parliament to deliver its utmost best to the country.

Naa Pelpuo said Dakagili Naa Bagbin had “acquitted himself creditably and gained a top-notch regard for himself, despite the fact that he had to manage the most difficult Parliament in the history of parliamentary democracy in the country.”

“Your Excellency Napogbakole Naa, settling on the Dakagili Naa to steer the affairs of the Ninth Parliament is a manifestation that you have a discerning eye and approve of quality and commitment to selfless service.

“It is patently clear that you are looking for the best of the best to help you run the country.

With the  Dakagili Naa, you are spot on and the whole nation is behind you”, the revered Chief explained.

Naa Pelpuo assured the President Mahama that his traditional council and the people within the traditional area would support him and his government in its quest to deliver quality governance to the admiration of all.

The Council also advised the Napogbakole Naa to ensure he put the right personalities, qualified and competent people regardless of relations into the right positions within his government, to ensure Ghanaians had the best government ever within this tenure.

The President-elect Mr Mahama, Sunday, January 05, 2024, appealed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership in Parliament to nominate Mr Bagbin as the Speaker of the Ninth Parliament.
