A 10-member Entity Tender Committee (ETC) of the Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF) has been inaugurated in Accra with a call on members to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties.
The committee, comprising representatives from various institutions, was inaugurated at a ceremony where members took the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy, formally committing themselves to the responsible and impartial execution of their mandate.
The members include Dr Patrick Amoah Bekoe of the Department of Feeder Roads; Sebastian Syme of the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply; Jamila Jakalia of the Attorney-General’s Department; and Osman Ali, Deputy Director of Finance at the ZoDF.
Others are Suleiman Abdulai, Head of Procurement, and Hawa Muhammed-Awwal, Head of Human Resource, both of the ZoDF.
The ETC is established under Section 17 of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) to oversee procurement and disposal activities within public entities and ensure that such processes are transparent, fair, competitive and compliant with the law.
Inaugurating the committee, the Coordinator of the Zongo and Inner-City Secretariat, Alhaji Baban Larmie Abu Sadat, expressed confidence in the members’ ability to execute their responsibilities effectively.
He urged them to avoid personal, sectional and parochial interests and uphold the principles of integrity, accountability, impartiality and fairness in all procurement decisions.
Addressing the committee, the Chief Executive Officer of the ZoDF, Alhaji Halidu Haruna, urged members to strictly adhere to applicable procurement laws, regulations and procedures.
He stressed that their decisions must be guided by merit and the broader interests of the Fund.
“Ensure that all procurement processes are properly documented, competitively conducted and handled with confidentiality where required. You must also remain vigilant to situations that may give rise to conflicts of interest,” he said.
Alhaji Haruna further encouraged members to work collaboratively and respectfully to ensure that the Fund derives value for money from its procurement activities.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Sebastian Syme thanked the respective institutions for the confidence placed in the members and pledged their commitment to carrying out their mandate diligently and professionally.
He assured the ZoDF management that the committee would operate with integrity, independence and due diligence, while promoting transparent procurement processes, prudent management of public resources and value for money in support of the Fund’s development mandate.
