Bibiani GoldStars have signed former Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku on a one-year deal as they strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The 27-year-old striker was officially unveiled by the club on Sunday, becoming the latest addition to the Miners’ squad as they reinforce their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
GoldStars confirmed the signing in a message welcoming the forward to the club.
“WELCOME TO THE MINERS, KWAME OPOKU! Former Asante Kotoko player Kwame Opoku has officially joined the Miners. Welcome to Bibiani GoldStars!” the club announced.
Opoku joins GoldStars after ending his second spell with Asante Kotoko, where injuries affected his progress and limited his ability to make the impact he had hoped for.
The striker returned to Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year contract following previous spells abroad with Algerian club USM Alger and Moroccan side Olympique Khouribga.
His first spell with the Kumasi-based club came during the 2020/21 season, when he quickly established himself as an important attacking player.
He scored six goals and provided three assists in 16 appearances during that campaign, performances that highlighted his goalscoring potential and contributed to his move overseas.
However, his return to the Porcupine Warriors proved more challenging, with injuries disrupting his progress and limiting his opportunities to make a significant contribution.
GoldStars will now hope that the move to Bibiani provides Opoku with the platform to rediscover his form and make a strong impact in the Ghana Premier League.
