Advocates for Christ Ghana (A4CG) has made a clarion call to the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to intensify investigations on the recent killings and violence in Ejura, a town in the Ashanti region.
A press statement signed by the Media and Communications Gate Lead of A4CG Mrs. Eyram Bashan, dated 29th June, 2021, condemned the violence that took place at Ejura these past days and demanded that intensive investigations are conducted to reveal the mitigating factors that led to the mobbing of Ibrahim Muhammed, an activist.
The youth of Ejura recently embarked on a protest against the violent death of Ibrahaim Muhammed popularly known as Kaaka, which warranted a heavy security presence in the town, and eventually the firing of shots into the protesting youth, leading to the deaths of two other residents and the injuring of several others.
“We condemn in no uncertain terms the alleged mob action leading to the murder of the said campaigner as well as the shooting into the crowd by the military which has left two persons dead. We demand that full investigations by CHRAJ and other law enforcement agencies be conducted”, the press statement read.
A4CG called on the agitated youth and residents of the embattled town to maintain a peaceful atmosphere to enable successful investigations.
Ibrahim Kaaka was attacked on Friday, June 25, 2021, by unknown assailants who clubbed his head until he fell unconscious.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi where he was put on oxygen until he passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 in the afternoon.
He was an active campaigner for the FixTheGhana campaign till his demise.
