Paris Saint-Germain’s hierarchy have serious concerns over the ‘viability of maintaining’ Kylian Mbappe’s lucrative contract.
The 23-year-old signed a new deal with the French champions in the summer despite being closely linked with a move to Real Madrid.
According to reports in France, Mbappe will earn over £547million in three years – making him the highest-paid sportsperson ever.
Mbappe’s lucrative contract takes up a quarter of the team’s total budget – meaning PSG will struggle to add reinforcements to their team, according to Sport.
Additionally, Mbappe’s new contract is having a knock-on effect to his team-mates and the staff members that are currently employed by the club.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, PSG made several salary reductions and some of those cuts are still in place today despite Mbappe’s summer raise.
