    Ghana hosts Africa Bitcoin Conference

    Africa Bitcoin Conference, the biggest convening of the bitcoin community on the continent, which is being hosted in Ghana is currently ongoing at the Kempiski Hotel, Accra.

    The 3 days event started from yesterday and will end on the 7th of December, 2022.  The programme, which has the co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, as the keynote speaker, will bring together policymakers, entrepreneurs, captains of industry and the business community.

    “The agenda is to create awareness on and help promote bitcoin adoption in Africa by instituting bitcoin-friendly legislation and regulatory frameworks,” Mr. Alfred Adjabeng, Liaison of the Africa Bitcoin Conference, told a press conference in Accra.

    According to him, with the appropriate safety and regulatory measures in place, “people will no longer be afraid of bitcoin, and will embrace its ability to facilitate the transfer, storage, and protection of value,” he said.

    Day one of the event started at 900am and closed  at 5:oopm. The event had Government officials give their remarks and second (Bernard Parah), third (Nathalie Yamb ) and fourth ( Marco Dal Lago) keynote speakers  give their speech.

    There was a fireside chat having Ray Youssef (SP) and Farida Nabourema. The event also saw the First Panel :  Bitcoin is money which was handled by Miles Suter, Alex Gladstein, Magatte Wade (SP) and Anita Posch (MD). The second Panel: The Road to a Career in Bitcoin was taken over by Abubakar Nur Khalil, Conor Okus, Femi Longe (SP) and Dread (MD).

    The Third Panel: Changing the Bitcoin Narrative through Education was handled by Anita Posch, Paco De la India, Hermann Vivier (SP) and Charlene Fadirepo (MD) ,the Fourth Panel: The Future of Bitcoin in recessing economy also had Prof Nii Quaynor, Richard Detente, Chio Minang, Kwame A.A. Opoku (SP) and Mackenzie Sigalos (MD) and finally the Fifth Panel: Advancing Social Justice with Bitcoin also taken over by Yusuf Nessary, Mary Victoria Imasuen (SP) and Ahmed Gatnash (MD).

    There were two workshops of 45minutes, a presentation by Africa Gastronomy Network and another fireside chat having Mike Brock (SP) and Ojoma Ochai (MD).
