    Ninety-nine youth in Nkwanta South receive startup kits from SOCO project

    Ninety-nine youth in Nkwanta South receive startup kits from SOCO project. Mr Felix Owusu Gyimah, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Nkwanta South Municipality has presented a set of startup kits, to 99 young men and women in the area.

    The presentation was as part of the Livelihood Empowerment Programme Under Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) project these individuals undertook.

    Addressing the beneficiaries and other individuals present, Mr Owusu Gyimah said the SOCO project was meant to bring development and improve the Livelihood of the people in selected districts in the Northern sector of Ghana.

    He said the project was contributing to the prevention of conflict spillover from the Sahelian countries by improving the social and economic resilience of the Gulf of Guinea countries including Ghana, Benin, Togo and Côte d’Ivoire.

    Touching on beneficiaries in the Nkwanta South Municipality, a total of 14 young welders, 25 Honey producers, 20 soap and pomade makers, 20 Dressmakers, and 20 Hairdressers were given startup kits to assist them in their activities.

    The MCE, however, urged them to make good use of the items presented to them   since it will help them make a good income out of it.

    He also cautioned that the items they had received were not meant for sale but must be used to work to make money and reduce poverty.

    “A monitoring team will periodically check if the startup kits are truly used for their intended purpose,” he added.

    Madam Sherifa Sekyere-Tijani, the Nkwanta South Constituency Parliamentary Candidate for New Patriotic Party, said the good initiatives by NPP government which had positively impacted on the lives of Ghanaians which they had just witnessed.

    She pleaded with them to support her win the parliamentary seat to bring development to the Constituency.

    The beneficiaries thanked the MCE and the government for an initiative which will go a long way in their lives and promised to put the kits to good use.
