Tragedy hit Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality when fire gutted a compound house and burnt a-nine-month-old baby.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) learnt during a visit to the area that the fire incident happened around 0700 hours on Saturday January 11, 2025, and caused extensive destruction to other personal properties and belongings running into thousands of Ghana cedis.
According to some of the victims, the baby was left sleeping inside one of the rooms when the incident happened.

The Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Kwame Adomako, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service who confirmed the death said the cause of the fire remained unknown for now.

He said the command received a call from the media about the fire incident, saying when the fire fighters got to the scene, the inferno had reached dangerous dimensions, however they were able to bring it under control.

ADO1 Adomako said the command also recorded a similar fire incident at Asuakwaa in the Sunyani Municipality on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

That incident, he added, happened around 1600 hours on the day, saying when the personnel of the service reached the scene the fire had razed to the ground many of the rooms of the house.
No casualty was however recorded in that incident.
