The Adidome Central Electoral Area is grappling with a surge in criminal activities, leaving residents, particularly businesswomen, in fear.

Recent incidents, including a disturbing case where a woman was locked in her room while thieves operated freely, highlighted the dire need for urgent intervention. Mr. Guggisberg Fiagbenu, Assembly Member of Adidome Central Electoral Area, has called on the authorities to intervene and address the rising crime rate.

He expressed concern over the limited number of police officers and the lack of logistics, including a broken-down patrol vehicle, which was hindering the police’s ability to respond effectively to the situation.

In a passionate plea, Mr. Fiagbenu called on the government to provide logistics to the Central Tongu District Police command for effective service delivery to ensure the safety and security of residents, particularly businesswomen, who were bearing the brunt of the criminal activities.

To complement the efforts of the police in combating crime, he said he had secured a permit to form a community watchdog committee. “The committee will have 15 able-bodied youth, and they will undergo partial professional police training to enhance their skills in maintaining law and order,” he said.
