Mr. Eric Adom, the Buem Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described Mr. Kofi Iddi Adams, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Buem Constituency, as the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, as good news.

He said the nominee, who was a former National Organizer of the Party, had a proven track record that would enable him to efficiently deliver under the new portfolio given to him. Mr. Adom said these during an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after a letter from the Presidency Communications dated January 21, with caption “President Mahama nominates third batch of Ministers,” named him as one of the Ministers-designate.

The Chairman, who was a former Assemblyman for Bodada East Electoral Area between 2010-2018, said he believed in the MP’s competency in doing the job with dexterity and innovation. Mr. Kofi Iddi Adams, also a former Spokesperson for Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, former President of Ghana, was elected as an MP for the Buem Constituency in the Election 2020, with 18,528 votes, representing 71.84 per cent, beating his keen opponent, Mr. Lawrence Kwami Aziale, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate who polled 6,843 votes, representing 26.5 per cent.

He retained his Seat for the Party during the 2024 polls with 17,510 votes as against 4,852 votes secured by Mr. Richard Adjei, NPP PC. Mr. Kofi Iddi Adams born on May 2, 1975, hails from Teteman, a farming community in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region. Mr. Adams, who is an ardent boxing follower, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with emphasis on Epidemiology of Parasitic Diseases.
