In a bid to boost productivity, employment, and economic growth, Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is championing the implementation of a 24-hour economy.
This initiative aims to leverage the immense potential of industries in Ghana to drive growth and development.
During a working visit to Sunda Ghana and factory plant in Kasoa in the Central Region, the Minister expressed her satisfaction with the company’s high standards and employment of 4,000 staff.
She emphasised the company’s capacity to support the government’s drive to make Ghana a leading exporter on the continent, urging them to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare also stressed the importance of increasing productivity and employment through the 24-hour economy policy, which she explained “will have a ripple effect on import substitution and economic growth.”
Managing Director of Sunda Ghana, Mr Michael Ye Wei, expressed the optimism about the gains of the 24-hour economy policy, calling on the government to sanitise the industrial sector of counterfeit products to achieve full industrialisation and economic growth.
In a separate visit to the Komenda sugar factory, also in the Central region, the sector Minister revealed plans to fast-track the operationalisation of the factory, transforming it into a 24-hour facility operating the full value chain.
“This move aligns with the government’s 24-hour economy policy,” she said.
As the Minister continues her tour of various industries in Ghana, her focus on boosting industrialisation and economic growth through the 24-hour economy policy is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s development.
