Otto Addo the right man for Black Stars job – Ameenu Shardow

General Manager of the Black Stars, Ameenu Shardow, has thrown his full support behind head coach Otto Addo, insisting the former Borussia Dortmund assistant remains the right man to lead Ghana despite recent criticism.

The Black Stars revived their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with emphatic back-to-back wins against Chad and Madagascar.

Those wins ended a worrying six-game winless run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers competitions, failing to qualify for the tournament.

Addo had come under intense pressure following a string of poor results, with many calling for his dismissal.

However, the Ghana Football Association opted to keep faith in him and reinforced the technical team instead.

“I’m absolutely convinced Otto is the right person. He got a lot of things wrong. He is the first to admit that,” Shardow said in an interview aired on Asempa FM.

“If you put a camera before him, he will willingly tell you he got a lot of things wrong.

“But the way he coaches, the way he applies himself, the way he’s always willing to learn — he never sleeps. Hard worker. You could tell clearly that this is somebody who is destined for the top.”

Ghana’s 5-0 and 3-0 victories in the March international window have lifted the team to the summit of Group I, three points clear of Comoros.

With four games remaining, the Black Stars are well-positioned to secure qualification for the tournament.
