A total of 19 suspects have been arrested in a major police operation targeting drug trafficking and robbery activities around the Kasoa Dominase area and the Onion Market in Ghana’s Central Region.

The Central East Regional Police Command conducted the special raid on Thursday, June 12, 2025, as part of its intensified efforts to combat growing criminal activity in the area.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Police Region, DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, the coordinated operation led to the arrest of individuals believed to be involved in illicit drug trade and other criminal acts within the bustling market and nearby communities.

Those arrested include Abubakari Ibrahim, Mohammed Awal, Shafiu Salisu, Hamza Amadu, Ali Adamu, Balhani Fuseini, Jamal Haruna, Zakari Abdulai, Abdul Aziz, and Bera Kalidu. The remaining suspects are Moro Baki, Anthony Lucky, Razak Yussif, Sumani Issah, Sulley Mohammed, Abdul Salifu, Eliasu Bukari, Kamelo Muuk, and Osumanu Amadu.

During the raid, officers recovered a variety of suspected illegal substances, including Indian hemp, as well as controlled drugs such as Tramadol and Red—a cocktail known to be widely abused.

The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities say they will soon be arraigned before the court.

The Regional Police Command applauded the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication, and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.

The police also appealed to the public for continued cooperation, urging residents to share timely information that could assist in curbing drug-related crimes and ensuring community safety.
