5 Mistakes Upcoming Ghanaian Artists Keep Making (And How to Avoid Them)

Being talented isn’t enough. Many underground artists in Ghana struggle not because their music is bad — but because they keep making small mistakes that block their growth.

Here are 5 common mistakes upcoming artists make — and how to avoid them.

❌ 1. Not Investing in Quality Sound
Your talent won’t shine if your audio is trash. Many artists still record with poor mics and don’t mix or master properly.
💡 Fix: Save up and work with at least a semi-pro studio. Your song is your CV.

❌ 2. No Branding or Visual Identity
Dropping good music with no cover art, no press shots, no vibe — that’s a problem.
💡 Fix: Build a clean Instagram page. Use Canva for covers. Let people see your brand.

    ❌ 3. Ignoring Promotion
Dropping your song on Audiomack and sitting back won’t work. You need a plan.
💡 Fix: Use blogs, TikTok, IG reels, WhatsApp groups. Or invest in promo packages (👋🏾 KAKNEWS can help.)

    ❌ 4. DMs Without Structure
“Hi bro, promote me” doesn’t cut it anymore. It looks unprofessional.
💡 Fix: Send a clean pitch: short bio, song link, artwork, and why your song matters.

    ❌ 5. Quitting Too Early
Some artists drop one song, don’t blow up, and vanish.
💡 Fix: Be consistent. Many of your faves blew after years of pushing. Your time will come.

The music game isn’t just vibes — it’s strategy. Learn it, apply it, and watch your brand grow.
