The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has recorded 163 arrests linked to 109 drug-related cases across the country in 2025, according to the Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Friday, December 19, Mr Opoku Amoah explained that the number of arrests exceeded the number of cases because multiple suspects are often implicated in a single investigation.
He disclosed that nearly 50 of the cases have already been filed in court and are currently at various stages of trial, expressing confidence that all outstanding matters would be concluded by next year.
Mr Opoku Amoah further revealed that NACOC has so far secured five convictions, with the convicted persons serving prison sentences ranging from six years to longer terms, reflecting the Commission’s strong commitment to combating drug-related crimes.
Providing a comparison with the previous year, he noted a decline in arrest figures, with fewer than 100 suspects apprehended last year. He attributed the reduction to changing enforcement trends and improved investigative strategies rather than reduced vigilance.
The update underscores NACOC’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and strengthen law enforcement outcomes nationwide.
