One person has been killed and 37 others injured in a road accident at Mankrong on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

The accident was confirmed by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The crash involved a 40-seater Zhong Tong bus with registration number AS 7022-21 and a Man Diesel truck with registration number GW 3969-U, both of which were in motion at the time of the collision.

Eyewitnesses said the bus, which was allegedly travelling at high speed, crashed into the truck.

Among the injured were 21 males and 17 females, while the occupants of the truck escaped unhurt.

The GNFS rescue team, led by ADO II Bernard Boamah, was dispatched at 6:59 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 7:07 a.m.

The team extricated the deceased from the wreckage, assisted the injured — including those already taken to the Suhum Government Hospital — cleared the accident scene, and restored traffic flow.

“The front of the bus was extensively damaged, indicating the severity of the impact, while the rear of the truck sustained only minor damage. Our team worked swiftly to ensure the safety of road users and to provide timely assistance to the victims,” ADO II Boamah said.
