The Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council (GNBCC) has announced a call for applications for the 2026 edition of its Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC), a two-month internship and capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening Ghana’s horticulture sector.

The programme is open to Ghanaian tertiary students, recent graduates, and young entrepreneurs who are passionate about horticulture and agribusiness and eager to gain practical, hands-on industry experience.

According to GNBCC, the Horticulture Business Challenge is designed to equip participants with the practical, professional, and business skills required to thrive in Ghana’s growing horticulture industry. Selected applicants will undertake paid internships with Ghanaian or Dutch horticulture companies, offering exposure to real-world operations and best practices.

Participants will also benefit from weekly training sessions on relevant industry topics, personal and group coaching, field trips to horticulture companies, and practical training in various aspects of the value chain. The programme further provides networking opportunities with industry experts and organizations.

The 2026 internship period is scheduled for April to May, with an information session set for February 19, 2026. The deadline for applications is February 24, 2026.

Organisers say the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to build local capacity, promote agribusiness innovation, and strengthen collaboration between Ghanaian and Dutch stakeholders in the horticulture space.

Interested applicants are required to complete an online application form before the stated deadline.

The Horticulture Business Challenge has over the years contributed to skills development and enhanced industry linkages, positioning young professionals to take advantage of opportunities within Ghana’s expanding agribusiness sector.
