The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has strongly refuted claims that it allocated GH¢12 million to sponsor the national football team. In a public statement, the Board described the reports as “false, misleading, and without any factual basis,” stressing that no funds intended for cocoa farmers have been diverted to football-related activities.
COCOBOD emphasized that its sole focus remains on supporting cocoa farmers through timely payments, farm inputs, extension services, and sustained investment in the cocoa sector. The Board urged the public to disregard the circulating allegations and rely only on its official communication channels for accurate information.
This clarification comes amid heightened public scrutiny of how state institutions manage resources, with COCOBOD reassuring stakeholders—particularly cocoa farmers—that their welfare remains its top priority.
