Burma Camp Redevelopment Advances as CDS Inspects Key Project Sites

The Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has visited the Burma Camp Redevelopment Project site at Medo Lines to assess progress on the ongoing works.

During the visit, he was welcomed by the Director of Engineer Services, Colonel Jonas Agyei Wiafe, and the Chief Operations Officer of the Support Services Brigade, Colonel Emmanuel Appiah.

The 13.5-acre redevelopment site currently houses 36 households. Once completed, it will be transformed into 18 residential blocks—comprising 12 two-bedroom blocks and six single-bedroom blocks—expanding accommodation capacity to 258 households.

According to the Project Manager of St John’s Wood Real Estate, Nana Sekyere Ansah II, preliminary survey work has already been completed, and construction will begin after the official groundbreaking ceremony.

In a related inspection, the CDS also reviewed progress on 12 three-storey residential blocks being built to resettle personnel affected by the Burma Camp and El Wak redevelopment initiatives.

Mr. Ernest Kwame Abanquah, Senior Project Manager for Imperial Homes, indicated that the construction is expected to be completed by June this year.

Overall, the Burma Camp Redevelopment Project is progressing steadily, with preparations finalized for its groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for July 3, 2026.
