The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the activation of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal for the online capture and uploading of candidates’ school choices for the 2026 Senior High School placement exercise.

The portal will be available from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, for heads of Junior High Schools (JHSs) to submit the school selection data of eligible candidates.

In a directive dated August 24 and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES said the exercise forms part of preparations for the placement of candidates into senior high schools.

Headteachers who have not completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal for pre-testing have been directed to do so by close of work on Monday, August 24.

They are subsequently required to capture and upload the candidates’ data on the WAEC portal within the stipulated four-day period.

The GES explained that the WAEC portal allows the same school identification number and password to be used simultaneously on multiple computers.

According to the Service, the feature will enable schools with large numbers of candidates to capture and upload data concurrently, helping to ensure that the exercise is completed within the allocated period.

Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, together with Examination Coordinators, have been directed to closely supervise the process and ensure that the data of all eligible candidates are properly captured, verified and submitted.

Regional Directors of Education have also been tasked with communicating the directive to all relevant schools and ensuring strict compliance.

The GES stressed the importance of ensuring that all eligible candidates’ data are captured and submitted within the four-day window to facilitate the smooth implementation of the 2026 school placement exercise.
