The six-month training equipped participants with advanced technical expertise in welding, fabrication, electricals, auto mechanics, electronics, and plumbing. Beyond technical skills, trainees received entrepreneurship coaching, business management support, safety certification, and start-up toolkits to help them launch or expand their enterprises immediately.

This initiative, part of the company’s 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP), was designed after a needs assessment revealed that many artisans lacked formal certification and business acumen, limiting their competitiveness in the job market. By partnering with regulatory bodies and embedding strong safety standards, the programme enhances professionalism, income potential, and local enterprise growth.

At the graduation ceremony, Community Relations Manager Edmund Oduro Agyei emphasized that the programme promotes dignity of labour, responsible business practices, and safety compliance—pillars essential for resilient local economies. Previous cohorts have already expanded businesses and created jobs, showcasing the multiplier effect of skills development.

Graduates of this third cohort praised AngloGold Ashanti for strengthening human capital in host communities and pledged to uphold professional standards, prioritize safety, and contribute to socio-economic progress.

Through ongoing collaboration with traditional authorities, municipal leaders, and institutional partners, AngloGold Ashanti continues to invest in initiatives that build capacity, foster entrepreneurship, and create shared value for communities.
