Axis Pension Trust has reaffirmed its commitment to prudent investment, transparency and improved member services as it seeks to strengthen its position in Ghana’s pensions industry.

The commitment was made at the 2026 Annual Schemes Open Forum, which brought together members, trustees, custodians and service providers across the six pension schemes sponsored by the company.

Members received updates on the audited accounts, financial and investment performance of their respective schemes, as well as measures being implemented to improve service delivery.

Chief Executive Officer of Axis Pension Trust, Afriyie Oware, said the improving economic environment presents new investment opportunities but cautioned against focusing on short-term market gains.

He said the company would continue to balance investment opportunities with prudence while taking into account members’ different investment horizons and protecting their long-term interests.

“While the improving economic environment presents new opportunities for investors, we remain guided by discipline and prudence. Our responsibility is not to chase short-term market performance but to manage members’ retirement savings in a way that reflects their different investment horizons, preserves capital and creates sustainable long-term value,” he said.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Cedar Occupational and Personal Pension Schemes, Robert Bennin, said accountability and trust remain central to the management of members’ retirement savings.

He said the annual forum provides an important platform for trustees to explain how members’ funds are being managed and the principles guiding investment decisions.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Secure Occupational and Provident Fund Master Trust Schemes, Paa Kofi Ankomah, highlighted Axis Pension Trust’s digital transformation, including its move towards paperless scheme operations.

He said the initiative is intended to make pension services more convenient and accessible to members.

Axis Pension Trust has also reintroduced Afrakomah, its AI-powered digital agent, across its online chat, WhatsApp and call centre channels, while expanding its services to include real estate advisory.

The company said the initiatives form part of efforts to improve member experience, promote financial literacy and support better long-term financial decisions.

According to the latest rankings by the National Pensions Regulatory Authority, Axis Pension Trust is the second-ranked corporate trustee in Ghana.

The company said it will continue to focus on strong governance, digital innovation, financial literacy and sustainable investment solutions to deliver better retirement outcomes for members.
