Deputy Education Minister Clement Abas Apaak has unveiled education projects worth over GH¢41 million in Builsa South, aimed at improving school infrastructure and learning conditions across the district.
The Member of Parliament for the area officially handed over multiple sites for construction, signaling the start of a large-scale effort to upgrade educational facilities.
Funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the projects are expected to reduce pressure on existing infrastructure while expanding access to quality education.
The initiative includes the construction of a modern office complex for the district education directorate in Fumbisi, new classroom blocks in various communities, enhanced boarding facilities at Kanjarga Senior High School, and a headmaster’s bungalow to support effective school administration.
These developments are part of broader efforts to address persistent challenges such as overcrowded classrooms and inadequate facilities, creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
In addition, more than 400 mono desks have been secured for distribution to schools in the coming weeks, further easing congestion and improving student comfort.
District Director of Education Richard Akum-Nyemi commended the initiative, noting ongoing interventions to improve educational standards, including regular provision of desks.
The site handover events were attended by key stakeholders, including District Chief Executive Anne Musah, contractors, and party officials.
Residents have welcomed the projects, describing them as timely investments that will significantly enhance education in the district.
The projects are expected to be completed within 12 months, with hopes of delivering lasting improvements in teaching and learning outcomes.
