According to the GNFS, firefighters responded promptly after receiving reports of the drowning and immediately began efforts to locate the victim.
The operation, carried out on July 13, was led by DO III Obosu, who coordinated the rescue team alongside personnel from other emergency response agencies that had assembled at the scene.
The Service said the joint search and recovery exercise lasted several hours before the boy’s body was eventually retrieved.
After the recovery, Samuel Awalime’s body was handed over to the Adenta Police Division to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Ghana National Fire Service has not provided further details on how the drowning occurred, as police continue their investigations.
