Kumasi Asante is top of the Ghana Premier League table after an impressive win at Karela on Match week 13.

An impressive performance from the porcupine ensured a first home defeat of the season for Karela United.

Karela boasted a 100 per cent record coming into the clash with six wins out of six games but suffered a 2-0 defeat thanks to goals from Imoro Ibrahim and Kwame Poku at the Crosby Awuah Memorial park in Ayinase.

The win sends Kotoko top of the league for the first time this season while Karela, who were leaders before kickoff, drop to third.

The Porcupine Warriors did not make a great start and had goalkeeper Razak Abalora to thank for making some great saves and not conceding.

They recovered and took the lead few minutes to halftime through a former Karela player, Ibrahim Imoro, who fired a low driven shot into the net.

Kotoko looked more confident and extended their lead through Kwame Opoku after the hour mark. The striker produced a superb finish to take his tally to seven goals.

In other games played on Sunday afternoon, WAFA suffered their second straight defeat as they lost 1-0 in Dormaa to Aduana Stars. Emmanuel Osei Baffour scored the only goal in the second half.

Obuasi-born forward Kwaku Karikari scored as Liberty Professionals earned a 1-0 win against AshantiGold.

Great Olympics failed to continue their fine form as they were beaten  3-1 by Bechem who move to second after the impressive performance.  The defeat is the first for interim head coach Yaw Acheampong.

Dreams FC extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 victory at Eleven Wonders in Techiman.

Joseph Esso opened the scoring for the Dawu-based side just before halftime. Suleiman Farhadu added the second on the hour mark to wrap up the win.

In Saturday’s game, Ebusua Dwarfs handed Inter Allies their 6th straight defeat in the Ghana Premier League with a 2-0 win in Accra.

Elmina Sharks host Berekum Chelsea on Monday while Medeama visit King Faisal on Tuesday to end the match week.
