John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Sahara LPG Vessel in South Korea, describing the development as a major step toward strengthening energy security and improving the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply chain in Ghana and across West Africa.
The commissioning ceremony brought together government officials, industry stakeholders and international partners to witness the launch of the modern vessel, which is expected to enhance the transportation and distribution of LPG in the region.
Speaking at the event on Thursday, March 12, President Mahama said the vessel will help ensure a more reliable energy supply for countries that depend partly on LPG imports.
He noted that the commissioning represents not only a milestone in engineering but also the strength of collaboration among stakeholders working to promote safe, efficient and responsible energy distribution.
Mahama added that the dual-fuel, fully refrigerated LPG carrier reflects a shared commitment to improving energy infrastructure and supporting sustainable energy access across the region.
