Residents of Agyemanti can now access clean and safe drinking water following the commissioning of a GH¢210,000 mechanised borehole project by the Rotary Club of Accra–Airport Enclave.
The facility is equipped with an iron removal unit and a reverse osmosis water treatment system designed to improve access to potable water for people in the community and nearby areas.
Speaking at the commissioning on March 7, 2026, the President of the club, Gilbert Hagan, said the initiative forms part of the organisation’s commitment to improving lives through sustainable community service.
He explained that the project was undertaken after the club identified an urgent need for dependable and safe drinking water in the area.
According to him, the facility combines a mechanised borehole with modern water purification technology to ensure the water supplied meets safe drinking standards and helps reduce health risks linked to contaminated water sources.
Many rural communities across Ghana still depend on streams and untreated water sources, which often expose residents to waterborne diseases.
Community leaders in Agyemanti believe the project will help address these challenges while improving sanitation and overall wellbeing.
The Queen Mother of the community, Nana Awoyaa Otwewaa, expressed appreciation to the Rotary Club for the intervention, describing it as a major relief for residents.
She noted that access to clean water is vital for public health and said the new facility has brought renewed hope to the community.
With the project now completed, residents are expected to enjoy a reliable supply of safe drinking water—an intervention local leaders say will strengthen sanitation efforts and support broader community development.
