The Ghana Scholarship Authority has conducted a nationwide competitive examination for prospective beneficiaries of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme, a scholarship initiative funded by the Government of Hungary, in a move aimed at strengthening transparency and merit-based selection.

The exercise, organised with support from the West African Examinations Council and the Civil Service of Ghana, attracted 3,810 candidates nationwide.

Participants sat for examinations across undergraduate, Master’s and PhD categories, with officials emphasising that the process is designed to ensure that only qualified applicants are selected strictly on merit.

Authorities indicated that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda to expand equitable access to scholarship opportunities for all eligible Ghanaians.

They added that WAEC will oversee the marking process to guarantee integrity and credibility, noting that candidates who meet the required standards will be considered for final scholarship awards through an open and transparent process.

The Registrar of the Authority, Kingsley Asafo Agyei, urged applicants to remain confident, reiterating the government’s commitment to fairness and equal opportunity in the distribution of state-sponsored scholarships.
