The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board, urging members to uphold commitment and diligence in their duties.

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for the sector, emphasised that the Board is mandated to advise the Ministry on policy planning, strategic objectives, and operational direction, while fostering engagement with service users.

“With your commitment and determination to play the role assigned to you by the Civil Service Act, I can only hope that the ministry is set to achieve the goal that underpins its creation and ultimately attain remarkable strides for our country,” she said.

She highlighted the importance of appointing knowledgeable and skilled individuals to support the Ministry’s mandate.

“I am convinced that with your rich backgrounds, your selection and subsequent nomination by your respective ministries and institutions were informed by these requirements,” she stated.

Underscoring the Ministry’s oversight of 13 agencies, Madam Gomashie called for policy decisions to align with the legal and operational frameworks of each entity.

“Our decisions must take into account the laws that established these agencies. It is up to us to familiarise ourselves with them, so we can provide sound advice that shapes the sector’s direction,” she added.

She assured the Ministry’s reliance on the Board’s counsel in navigating institutional challenges.

“It is a big ministry with many people who need our attention. But I believe that collectively, we can jump every hurdle, navigate and find ways to address issues, and leave a legacy we will all be proud of,” she said.

Deputy Minister Mr. Yussif Jajah reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive governance, as prescribed by the Civil Service Act.

Dr Kwesi Eyison, representing the Ghana Tourism Federation, welcomed the Board’s inauguration and pledged private sector support through public-private collaboration.

Board members include Madam Gomashie, Mr. Jajah, Mr Joseph Kwesi Amoah (Chief Director, MOTCCA), Madam Comfort Aki Dede Ashiagbor (Ministry of Education), Mr. Noah Tumfo (Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry), and Mr. Richard Gyasi (Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs).

Other members are Mr. Kwasi Adu (Ministry of Finance), Mr. Ahuma Bosco Ocansey (Ghana Culture Forum), Dr Kwesi Eyison (Ghana Tourism Federation), and Naa Juyoo Oshedu Woblor Jueteer Tsofayelor (Culture Advocate).
