Young people driving innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana’s agriculture and food sector are being spotlighted at the Ghana AgriFood Youth Dialogue, as stakeholders discuss opportunities for youth to transform the country’s agrifood system.
The dialogue, held virtually on Friday, August 28, 2026, forms part of the AgTractive campaign and was organised around the theme, “Growing Opportunities: How Young People Are Transforming Ghana’s Agrifood System.”
The session brought together young entrepreneurs and industry experts to share their experiences and explore opportunities for greater youth participation in agriculture, agribusiness and related value chains.
The panel featured Ruhia Abubakar, Youth, Gender and Enterprise Development Officer at AGRA Ghana; Bernice Yawo Agboada, Founder of Mushroom General; Robben Asare, Founder of Aspassion Ltd.; and Elison Owusu Fordjour, Principal of the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (KITA).
The discussion was moderated by Desmond Okraku Danso, a Broadcast Journalist at Metro TV.
The speakers highlighted the potential of Ghana’s agrifood sector to create jobs and sustainable businesses for young people, while drawing attention to the importance of innovation, skills development and access to opportunities across the agricultural value chain.
The dialogue is being supported by the Mastercard Foundation in partnership with AGRA (Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa).
The organisers say the initiative is aimed at amplifying the contributions of young people to Ghana’s agrifood transformation and encouraging more youth to explore agriculture not only as a source of employment but also as an avenue for entrepreneurship and innovation.
