Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has held discussions with a delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly aimed at advancing development in the metropolis.

The delegation, led by Metropolitan Chief Executive George Arthur and accompanied by the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and South, paid a New Year courtesy call to the Vice President and conveyed their goodwill as government continues its national reset agenda.

In a post on her social media platforms, the Vice President disclosed that the team presented an eight-year development blueprint for Cape Coast. The plan highlights key priorities, including the renovation and operationalisation of the late President Evans Atta Mills Library and the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.

She explained that discussions also focused on how government support, together with local fundraising initiatives, could help reposition Cape Coast as a more vibrant and economically active city.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang said she urged the Assembly to actively involve residents in decision-making processes to build a sense of ownership and commitment to development projects. She further stressed the importance of aligning the metropolis’ development agenda with the broader national development framework.
