The fifty-two-member Assembly of the Kadjebi District in the Oti Region will convene on Wednesday, April 9, at Kadjebi to confirm Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka , the President’s nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE).

Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana states that “there shall be a District Chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the President with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the Assembly present and voting at the meeting”.

Dr. Suraj is a Research Scientist with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission.

He is also the Oti Regional Director of Research and Innovation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a former Assemblyman for the Mempeasem Electoral Area for two consecutive terms.

Chiefs, Queen mothers, NDC faithful, the Oti Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akan Constituency, among others are expected to grace the event.
