Mr Jules-Armand Aniambossou, French Ambassador to Ghana has been enskinned the Zosimli Naa (Chief of Friendship) of Tugu in the Tamale Metropolis.

The honourary chieftaincy title, which symbolises the strong friendship between the French Government and the people of Tugu, was conferred on the Ambassador during a courtesy call on the Chief of Tugu at his palace.

Tugulana Mahama Andani, Chief of Tugu, during the event, said the title was in recognition of the significant contributions of the French Government to the socio-economic development of the community.

He mentioned the implementation of a shea processing project, spearheaded by a French-owned financial institution, Advans Savings and Loans, as a testament to the Ambassador’s commitment to empowering the people of Tugu.

He said the project was currently boosting shea production and improving the livelihoods of many vulnerable households and communities. Tugulana Andani called on the French Government to expand its support to other key areas in agriculture to benefit more residents.

Mr Aniambossou expressed gratitude to the Chief and his elders for the honour and pledged the continued support of the French Government for the development of marginalised communities across the country.

Mr Guillaume Valence, Chief Executive Officer of Advans Savings and Loans in Tamale said the company, in collaboration with partners including the Mastercard Foundation, Global Shea Alliance, and Sahel Agricultural Services, initiated the shea processing centre at Tugu.

He said the initiative had supported about 600 women across seven communities in the area.
