The Assin South District Assembly has handed over 600 dual desks to the District Education Directorate to be distributed to 40 basic schools to enhance teaching and learning.

Some of the beneficiary schools are Assin Odumasi D/A Basic School, Atobiase/Kyekyewere D/A Basic School, Assin Kyenaso D/A Basic School, Assin Sibinso Catholic Basic School and many more.

At a ceremony at the premises of the District Assembly to present the furniture, Mr Jonathan Birikorang, Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE), said his frequent visits to some public schools in the district, revealed furniture deficit, hence the donation.

He charged the beneficiary schools to take good care of the desks to prolong their life span.

The DCE gave the assurance that the government would continue to implement good policies and programmes to ensure that education became the centre of economic development.

For his part Mr Isaac Opoku Inkoom, District Director of Education, advised management of schools to regularly maintain the furniture and not to discard their metallic holdings for scrap dealers when damaged.
