    GJA opens nominations for 2025 Executive Elections

    The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the opening of nominations for the Association’s 2025 National and Regional Executive Elections, scheduled to take place on Monday, June 30, 2025.

    According to the Committee, the nomination period opens today, Friday, May 16, and will close on Friday, May 30, 2025.

    The announcement marks a significant milestone in the Association’s democratic calendar.

    The statement was signed by Mr Peter Martey Agbeko, Chairman of the Elections Committee. The other members are Mr Kwaku Owusu-Peprah, Secretary, and Mrs Beatrice Asamani Savage, Member.

    The positions up for election, each carrying a three-year term, include President, Vice President, General Secretary, Organising Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Affairs Officer at the national level.

    For the regional elections, members will contest the positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer.

    The Committee urged all eligible members who possess the passion and competence to lead at both the national and regional levels to pick up nomination forms and contribute to building an ever  vibrant Association.

    “The Elections Committee is mandated to organise, conduct and supervise the GJA elections, with technical support from the Electoral Commission of Ghana. The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana will oversee the conduct of the elections on Monday, June 30, 2025,” it explained.

    It stated that it was finalising all necessary arrangements to ensure a credible, free, and transparent electoral process.

    It also urged the cooperation of all stakeholders in upholding the democratic values of the GJA.
