Opoku Ware School, the Ashanti Regional champions, have earned a commanding victory over Achimota School and St. Peter’s SHS to claim the final slot in the grand finale of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz.
They will now face Mfantsipim School and St. Augustine’s College on Thursday, November 6, 2025, for the coveted championship title and bragging rights.
What was anticipated to be a close contest among regional champions turned out to be a one-sided affair, as Opoku Ware cruised to an emphatic win with 48 points — the highest score in the semi-final stage — eliminating Achimota School, the Greater Accra champions, and St. Peter’s SHS, representing the Eastern Region.
Achimota School finished with 27 points, while St. Peter’s trailed far behind with just 10 points, much to the disappointment of their supporters.
Leading Opoku Ware’s charge were Master Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah, popularly known as “AI,” a three-time contestant, and Master John Kusi. Their exceptional intelligence, speed, and composure gave their team a clear edge throughout the contest.
From the very first round, it was evident that Opoku Ware were in control, posting 23 points against Achimota’s 14 and St. Peter’s four. By the second round, Opoku Ware added one more point, Achimota maintained their 14, while St. Peter’s dropped to three.
Opoku Ware’s decisive performance cements their place in the final as formidable contenders for the 2025 NSMQ trophy.
