As part of efforts to improve access to healthcare and expand active membership, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has waived the one month waiting period for newly enrolled NHIS members.

A release copied to Ghana News Agency said the waiver also applies to those renewing their NHIS membership after more than three months of expiry.

The waiver, according to the service provider, would be valid throughout November until December 14, 2025.

“This means that all eligible members who renew or enroll during the NHIS Active Month will enjoy immediate access to NHIS services, without the usual waiting period.

“This special initiative forms part of the NHIS Active Month Campaign, aimed at making it easier for everyone to stay active on the Scheme and to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing healthcare,” it said.

The Authority said members of the Scheme could also use the “MyNHIS App,” or dial the NHIS Mobile Renewal short code *929# to renew their membership and subscribe to the Auto-Renewal option for added convenience.

“We urge everyone, especially those whose membership has expired for more than three months, to renew promptly and continue enjoying the benefits of quality, affordable healthcare.

“For further information, please get in touch with the NHIS Call Centre at 6447 (MTN/Vodafone) or 054-444-6447,”  it added.

The application, launched in November 2022 to eliminate long queues at NHIA offices across the country, can be downloaded from Apple or Play Store.
