Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, is set to participate as a guest speaker at the 8th Association of International Sports Press (AIPS) Africa Congress, scheduled to take place in Banjul, The Gambia, from February 6 to 9, 2026.

The Ghanaian Sports Minister will share the platform with several of his African counterparts, including Mr Bakary Y. Bajide, The Gambia’s Minister for Youth and Sports; Hon. Shehu Dikko, Nigeria’s National Sports Commissioner; Hon. Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba, Mali’s Minister for Youth and Sports; Hon. Khady Gaye, Senegal’s Minister for Youth and Sports.

On the sidelines of the congress, Mr Adams is expected to hold bilateral discussions with fellow African sports ministers on key issues affecting sports development across the continent. Areas such as collaboration, sports infrastructure development, and athlete welfare are expected to feature prominently in the discussions.

The congress will be held under the theme “Digital Media, AI, and Ethical Journalism in Africa” and will take place at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo.

The AIPS Africa Congress is designed to provide sports journalists with opportunities to learn, network, and enhance their professional skills, particularly in the evolving digital media landscape.

Over the years, AIPS has played a key role in protecting the rights of sports journalists, promoting professionalism and ethical standards, and building capacity through platforms that support learning, networking, and the overall advancement of sports journalism globally.
