The Kingdom of Morocco has donated 2,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser to Ghana to boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security under the government’s Feed Ghana initiative.
The donation, which is the second in a series, was formally handed over at a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stated that the support highlights the growing bilateral ties between Ghana and Morocco, as well as their shared commitment to strengthening agricultural resilience, especially amid global uncertainties linked to tensions in the Middle East.
He noted that the initiative aligns with efforts by John Dramani Mahama to invest in agriculture through programmes such as Feed Ghana, irrigation expansion, improved seedlings, and the “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” initiative to increase food production.
According to the Minister, the fertiliser donation comes at a crucial time as Ghana seeks to expand agricultural output and improve its food security capacity.
In recent years, Ghana and Morocco have deepened cooperation across various sectors, with agriculture becoming a central pillar. Morocco, known for its vast phosphate reserves and status as a leading global fertiliser producer, continues to position itself as a key partner for African countries aiming to strengthen agricultural productivity.
