Vice President to Launch Revised National Cultural Policy on June 9

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has announced that Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will officially launch Ghana’s Revised National Cultural Policy on June 9, 2026, at the National Theatre.

According to the Ministry, the revised policy marks a major step forward in Ghana’s cultural development efforts, providing a modern framework for preserving, promoting and leveraging the nation’s rich cultural heritage to drive national development, social unity, economic progress and creative innovation.

The updated policy has been designed to respond to emerging national and global trends, including the expansion of the creative economy, advances in technology, cultural education and empowerment, as well as the protection of Ghana’s tangible and intangible cultural assets.

The Ministry noted that the policy aims to place culture at the heart of sustainable development and nation-building, recognizing its vital role in shaping national identity and supporting economic transformation.

The launch ceremony is expected to attract a broad range of stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, academics, representatives of the creative and cultural sectors, civil society organisations, cultural practitioners and members of the diplomatic community.

The Ministry believes that effective implementation of the revised policy will strengthen cultural institutions across the country, expand opportunities for creative entrepreneurs, promote cultural diversity, reinforce Ghana’s national identity and contribute significantly to the government’s overall development objectives.

Members of the public and the media have been invited to participate in the event, which is expected to set the stage for a renewed focus on culture as a key driver of Ghana’s future growth and development.
