Team Greater Accra has been crowned the overall winner of the 2026 Literacy Challenge after a closely contested final that kept the competition finely balanced until the end.

Represented by Neriah Gyamfi, Jenelle-Abrielle Ofori and Sarah Augusta Akosua Otoo, the Greater Accra team emerged at the top of the final standings with 88 points to claim the championship trophy.

The victory capped an impressive campaign for the team, which had earlier secured a place in the Top Four after defeating Upper East Region 58–45 on Day One of the competition.

Northern Region finished strongly with 85 points to take the first runner-up position, while Bono Region placed second runner-up with 68 points.

Volta Region finished fourth with 64 points, bringing an intense four-team contest to a close.

The Top Four places were determined after Eastern Region was eliminated in the Mega Challenge. Eastern ended the stage with 35 points, while Volta and Bono recorded 36 points each. Greater Accra and Northern Region were tied on 38 points apiece.

With only narrow margins separating the finalists, the final round proved decisive as the teams battled for the ultimate prize.

Greater Accra maintained its composure under pressure, finishing with 88 points to secure the title, ahead of Northern Region’s 85 points.

The 2026 Literacy Challenge brought together some of Ghana’s brightest young minds, testing contestants on their knowledge, critical thinking, speed, teamwork and ability to perform under intense pressure.

The competition is organised by Channel One TV in partnership with Citi FM and sponsored by Deli, Tema Oil Refinery, SIC Insurance, Prospectus Ghana and Advocate Publishing.
