Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is receiving treatment at 37 Military Hospital after reportedly sustaining gunshot injuries during a shooting incident.
According to her Special Assistant, Dr. Emmanuel Y. Boakye, the former legislator has undergone two surgical procedures and may be flown abroad for further specialised medical treatment.
The incident is reported to have occurred during a violent confrontation at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena. Reports indicate that approximately 45 rounds of ammunition were allegedly fired at her vehicle during the altercation.
A video circulating on social media is said to show the former MP being transported to hospital by ambulance following the incident.
Speaking on GhanAkoma on Akoma 87.9 FM, Dr. Boakye stated that additional medical intervention may be required to prevent further complications related to injuries sustained to her face.
Medical sources indicate that Adwoa Safo remains under close observation at the 37 Military Hospital, where doctors are monitoring her recovery following the surgeries.
While no destination has yet been disclosed for the proposed overseas treatment, her aides say plans are being considered to ensure she receives the specialised care needed for a full recovery.
