A 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly opening fire at the Los Angeles home of pop star Rihanna, according to prosecutors.

The suspect, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, is accused of firing a semiautomatic rifle at the singer’s mansion around 13:15 local time on Sunday. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

Ortiz is currently being held on bail set at $1.875 million and could face a life sentence if convicted.

Investigators say the shooting occurred while Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were inside the property. Police are still working to determine the motive behind the attack.

According to authorities, Ortiz allegedly drove up to the residence, fired several rounds at the property and then fled the scene. Her white Tesla was later located about eight miles away at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping centre, where she was arrested.

Nathan J. Hochman, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office district attorney, condemned the incident, warning that gun violence in residential communities would be prosecuted fully.

Prosecutors said several people were present in Rihanna’s home and in nearby properties when the shots were fired, raising serious safety concerns.

Ortiz is also facing multiple additional charges, including ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an occupied dwelling.

Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department reportedly discovered several social media posts by Ortiz referencing Rihanna. In one message posted on X, she appeared to address the singer directly.

Footage from outside the residence showed suitcases being removed from the property the day after the shooting.

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, rose to global fame in the early 2000s with hit songs such as Pon de Replay and Umbrella. She shares three children with A$AP Rocky, who was acquitted in February of charges related to an alleged shooting involving a former friend.
