Ghanaian digital solutions company mNotify has launched a three-month Digital Transformation Drive to equip 14 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with artificial intelligence (AI) and digital solutions to improve productivity, customer engagement and business growth.
The initiative was launched in Accra as part of mNotify’s 14th anniversary celebration, following the selection of 14 businesses from more than 100 applicants.
The participating businesses operate across sectors including hospitality, manufacturing, e-commerce, software development and cybersecurity.
Chief Executive Officer of mNotify, Ronald Tagoe, said the programme would focus on addressing specific business challenges rather than adopting AI simply because it is a growing trend.
“Our goal is to change the narrative around digital transformation. We start with the problem, not the technology. Businesses need to understand what they want to solve and what data they have before AI can create real value,” he said.
Over the three-month period, the selected SMEs will receive technical support to redesign workflows, digitise business records and integrate AI-powered customer engagement and cloud solutions through the Omni mNotify platform.
Mr Tagoe said businesses with limited digital records would first be supported to establish reliable data collection systems before adopting AI tools.
He identified poor record management as a major challenge preventing SMEs from effectively tracking customer behaviour, analysing sales trends, managing inventory and making informed business decisions.
“Once businesses have quality data, we help them digitise it and integrate the right AI tools to generate insights that support growth,” he added.
Unlike programmes focused primarily on innovation, mNotify said the Digital Transformation Drive will measure its impact through outcomes such as revenue growth, customer acquisition and employment creation.
Mr Tagoe stressed that AI should complement human capabilities rather than replace jobs, arguing that more efficient businesses would be better positioned to expand and create additional employment opportunities.
The anniversary celebration also featured a panel discussion involving industry leaders who explored the future of AI adoption and digital transformation in Ghana. Discussions focused on collaboration, practical innovation and the need for businesses to develop AI strategies suited to their specific industries.
Mr Tagoe announced that the 14 participating SMEs represent the first cohort of a broader initiative, with future editions expected to include businesses from all sectors and eventually support hundreds of Ghanaian enterprises.
mNotify also introduced Impact AI Labs, a collaborative initiative designed to bring together entrepreneurs, developers and business leaders to share ideas, explore AI tools and develop solutions to common business challenges.
As part of the launch, the company unveiled Care Arena, a healthcare innovation programme that will use AI and voice technologies to support healthcare delivery. The initiative will initially focus on awareness and behavioural change around preeclampsia and maternal health.
The company also launched its redesigned website, which brings together its range of digital and AI-powered services, including chatbots, voice solutions, intelligent call centre technology, USSD services, voting and ticketing platforms, software development and AI readiness assessments.
The celebration ended with a cake-cutting ceremony to mark mNotify’s 14th anniversary and the launch of its new digital platform, reflecting the company’s evolution from a bulk SMS provider into an AI-powered business solutions company.
