These are the companies that have donated to the COVID-19 Trust Fund

Following the establishment of the National Covid-19 Trust Fund by President Akuffo-Addo on April 5, 2020, many institutions and individuals have trouped to the presidency to donate towards the course to nib the coronavirus pandemic in the bud.

As at April 22, 2020, the fund had accumulated a sum of GH₵34 million by way of donations from the general public, according to Chairperson of the National Covid-19 Trust Fund Board of Trustees, Sophia Akuffo.

Among the organisations that made the donations include the religious bodies. However, this article, as compiled Ghana Talks Business, focuses on the corporate or business firms that have contributed to the Covid-19 Trust Fund.

The list is not exhaustive and in no particular order.

Zenith Bank Ghana Limited has donated GH₵1 million to the Covid-19 Trust Fund established by the government to help fight against COVID-19.

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has donated GH₵100,000 into the National Covid-19 Trust Fund to help the nations effort to fight the outbreak of the disease.The donation which was made at a short ceremony at the Jubilee house was received by the head of the Trust Fund, Former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.

Promasidor Ghana Limited, producers of Cowbell and other food products has donated GH¢130,000 in products and cash to the Covid-19 Trust Fund at the Jubilee House in Accra. The company presented a cheque for GH₵70,000 and Cowbell products worth GH₵60,000 to the Board of Trustees of the Fund, Chaired by former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.

The Human Resource Manager of the company, Andrews Bodom who spoke to the media after the presentation said, the move was part of the outfit’s effort to support government in the fight against COVID-19. In all he said, Promasidor had committed a total of GH₵300,000 worth of products and cash to the Trust Fund and other relevant institutions to help fight the pandemic.

Auto Parts Limited (APL)-Nissan Ghana has donated a Nissan Hardbody Pick up 4×4 single cabin to the COVID-19 National Committee.

CFAO Group, a leading distributor in Africa and the French overseas territories have donated two Mitsubishi L200 pick-up trucks to the Covid-19 Trust Fund to support their efforts and mandate in the national effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana.

Total Petroleum Ghana Ltd. has donated GH₵100,000 worth of fuel to the Covid-19 Trust Fund. The donation consists of 100 Total cards with a value of 230ltrs of fuel each. The presentation was made to the Chairperson of the Covid-19 Trust Fund, Justice Sophia Akuffo at the Jubilee House on Friday 17th April, 2020.

The Board of Directors and Staff of the National Investment Bank have jointly donated an amount of GH₵185,000.00) to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund. This unique gesture forms part of the Bank’s contribution to the national program to combat the spread and adverse impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on the country and its citizens.

The Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) has donated GH₵50,000.00 to help government address the COVID-19 pandemic. This action has however been questioned by many who hold the view that the money should have been directed towards aiding schools reeling under the negative economic impact of the pandemic.

The National Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Marketers has donated an amount of GH₵ 60,000 to the National Covid-19 Trust Fund to enable government prepare well against the spread of Covid-19 by purchasing more Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for frontline health workers.

Mobile Phone and Accessories Dealers Association (MPADA), has donated GH₵100,000 to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund to support the mandate of the fund.

Cal Bank Limited has presented a cheque of GH₵200,000.00 to the fund.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) has made a cash donation of GH₵40, 000.00 to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund. Additionally, it presented some essential medications, boxes of mineral of water, and some alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

The Bank of Ghana has presented a cheque of GH₵10 million to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund. The amount is in support of the national efforts towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Customs Brokers Association – Ghana (CUBAG) also made a cheque donation of GH₵10,000.00.

Engineering, Construction and Development Company Limited (EDC) also presented a cheque of GH₵100,000.00.

Saham Group (Sanlan Foundation of South), a Life and General Insurance Company, at the same ceremony made presented a cheque of GH₵100,000.00.

Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners led by its National President, Evangelist Collins Osei Kusi, gave a cheque of GH₵50,000.00 to the Covid-19 Trust Fund.

Indomie Ghana has donated the sum of GH₵1 million and other products to the created COVID-19 national trust fund.

Turkish Aksa Energy, generating electricity for Ghana since 2017, has donated GH₵2.5 million to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund created by the Ghanaian government.

Plan International has donated an amount of GH₵50,000 into the Covid-19 National Trust Fund to help government in its fight against the spread of the coranvirus in the country.

The Management of SSNIT has presented a cheque for GH₵500.000 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund at Jubilee House in Accra. The presentation was in response to the call made last month by President Nana Akufo-Addo for all to support the fight against the COVID-19 disease which has become a global and national pandemic.

Sunon Asogli Power Limited, the Chinese-Ghanaian company donated $100,000 dollars to the fight against COVID-19. Handing over the money to the government on behalf of the company in Accra, Mr. Shi Ting Wan, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana.

Africa World Airlines Ltd (AWA) has also donated $100,000 dollars towards the fight.

ABSA Bank Ghana ABSA Bank donated GH₵1 million to the fund and Hollard Insurance has donated GH₵100,000.

GCB Bank, Ghana’s largest bank, has provided GH₵100,000.00 support to the Government of Ghana in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

Interplast, West Africa’s leading producer of plastic pipe systems has donated GH₵1.2 million to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund to support efforts of the state.

Justmoh Construction Limited, he wholly Ghanaian-owned Construction Company, through its Chief Executive Officer, Justice Amoh, presented a cheque of GH₵500,000 as their contribution to the COVID-19 Trust Fund.

The Petroleum Commission has donated GH₵1 million while the Ghana Insurers Association donated GH₵500,000 and Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana has contributed GH₵200,000 to the fund.

National Insurance Commission (NIC), supported the fund with GH₵200,000 while Cenpower Generation Company Limited donated GH₵200,000.

Ghana National Bureau – ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme donated GH₵100,000. East Cantonment Pharmacy Limited donated GH₵100,000.

The Stallion Group has donated $35,000 dollars to the fund while ACADIA Industries Limited, manufacturers of Tampico contributed GH₵25,000.00 and five hundred cartons of Tampico drinks to the government.

West African Insurance Companies Association donated GH₵5,000, Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) paid GH₵50,000 into the fund, Ghana Insurance College donated GH₵50,000, National Food Buffer Stock Company donated GH₵100,000, Care International (Ghana) gave GH₵50,000 and Graduate Impresarios Associationalso paidGH₵1.5,

The Volta River Authority has also donated GH₵2 million with the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) giving out GH₵200,000 to the fund.

The Societele General Bank donated GH₵500,000 to the Trust fund.
