Mr King Ali Awudu, the National President of the Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association (PRETAG) says the association has procured 100 motorbikes to be distributed to district and zonal executives, nationwide. He said the association was also finalising modalities for the establishment of a health fund for members, adding that it was also working hard to ensure that professional promotions of members were done on time.
Mr Awudu gave the announcement when addressing a meeting of the Bono and Ahafo chapter of the Association in Sunyani, dubbed the “Teachers Assembly”, saying the members would also benefit from an insurance package very soon.He explained that the leadership of the Association had instituted the Teachers Assembly, to be organised annually and to update and sensitize the members on their activities and emerging developments within the Ghana Education Service (GES).  The meeting also saw the swearing in of Mrs Augusta Amponsah as the interim Chairperson of the chapter following the resignation of Mr Williams Owusu Achiaw, the substantive chairperson.
Mr Awudu stressed the association’s commitment to work hard to ensure that the condition of service of members was improved and urged the members to also remain loyal and work hard too.He condemned the growing trend of indiscipline in schools and cautioned teachers against aiding students in examination malpractices.
Mr Awudu said the association had engaged the PETRA TRUST under the tier three pension scheme and urged the members to contribute to the scheme for their own benefit.
Mr Adokwei Awuley, the National Vice President of the Chairman of the PRETAG Fund Board explained that the last AGM of the association adopted that the members contributed a minimum contribution of GHC100 into the fund.
He said the fund was open for members to access loans without guarantor, however added that only members whose contributions met the set requirement threshold could apply for the facility.
On her part, Mrs Amponsah thanked the association for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to work hard to make the association more attractive in the region.
