Vivo Energy Ghana Plc, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants has launched She’llFix campaign to empower women by providing them with hands-on training in auto mechanics, lubrication, and car safety.

The practical training starts from checking oil levels to jump-starting a car battery to ensure that women drive with independence, safety, and peace of mind.

The launch is under the tagline, “Safely, Confidently with Skill” in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility.

The She’llFix is an extension of the Vivo Energy Ghana’s flagship programme, ShePower diversity and inclusion campaign focused on fuelling change and empowering women in all spheres of life.

Mr Christian Li, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana said the company with its vision of becoming the leading and most respected energy business in Africa was committed to upholding its core values of safety, excellence, caring, respect and integrity in everything.

“Safety is an integral part of our operations, not only in how we run our business but also how we support communities we serve, hence the She’llFix to provide the women with the requisite training in car safety,” he stated

Madam Esther Ambah Numaba Cobbah, President, Institute of Public Relations, Ghana encouraged women to have self-confidence to fix basic things on their vehicles and avoid the over reliance on men anytime they have issues with their cars.

“There is nothing that women cannot fix. We handle God created humans. Gather the courage to manage your vehicle. Women are capable, perhaps more capable because we are careful,” she stated.

She congratulated Vivo Energy Ghana for the initiative to give women practical skills to manage their cars.

Madam Cobbah said giving women their rightful place at the workplace and in the society at large was an important aspect of recognising their equality with men and their ability to make significant contributions in their fields of human endeavour.

“Thus, dismantling outmoded ideas and practices of discrimination against women,” she noted.

She said, “I sense, ladies and gentlemen that Vivo Energy Ghana is an organisation that seeks to showcase the capabilities of women in even technical areas in society, and I feel very excited to be part of the She’llFix initiative.”

Madam Shirley Tony Kum, the Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana in an interview said most of the time when female car broke down on the road, they get panic of what to do by either to call the mechanic or the husband.

“This programme is seeking to impact females with basics about car maintenance so that if there is an issue with their cars, they would be able to figure it out before calling the mechanic,” she stated.
